Evaluation of Post-production

The post-production process was fairly quick for us because obviously we had to have our pick up shoot in order to add two more sets to the video. Before we had the second shoot we had edited a performance cut which made us think about the elements and shots that we were missing and that we could shoot during the pick up. The editing process was split up into two bits, we started with having half of the material with which we created a very repetitive video.

In the editing process we cut to the beat and found that it was important that we don't keep a single shot on for more than 3 seconds. This is because it would get boring for the audience and because the song is jumpy and has a club like vibe, the video needs to go along with the theme. We played around with the colouring by increasing the saturation in order to make the video look more vibrant. The colours that we enhanced were pink, black and purple.

When we transported the rest of the footage with the dancers set and mid-shots of the artist the video came together because it had a beginning, middle and end. Even though the video is performance based, as soon as we started cutting the material from the pick up shoot it brightened up the video and gave it more of a story-line due to the untold story of the dancers.

Digipak

I decided to go with this photo as it was everyone's second favourite. This was what the front cover came out as:

This was a lot better as it was more slick and looked a lot better with the font.

I then took the font from the front cover and wrote the song titles out with this to keep with the theme of the album cover. I then wrote my own 'rights' warning at the bottom; a common trait found on all albums: 2016 BEEZY recording production. Manufactured in London in BEEZY recording studios. 26 Berkley Square, W1 2SP. All rights reserved. Warning. Any attempted re selling of this CD is strictly prohibited by the federal government and is subject to federal prosecution. I also added the production company name in the corner 'BEEZY' and created our own font with TM at the end to show it is trademarked. I finally added the barcode, to make sure it looked professional.

Finally, this was the CD page. We wanted to keep this simple to keep with the minimalistic theme of the Digipak, however ensure that the artist is constantly publicised.

All these received very positive feedback, the only concern being that the CD page may be too simplistic.

Photoshoot for LOVA

We planned a photoshoot in order to get some new photos that would have more of a grungy tone to our artist. Below is a sample of the digipak front cover with the new photos. This is the first attempt at the front cover. We wanted to keep the same font as we felt it was simplistic but professional and stood out. We also kept the parental advisory warning. We thought this photo might work because the smoke gives the dark impression to her character. The smoke also leads to the name of the artist, so the audience eyes will attract to it, which is important for new artists(like ours).

We had always planned for this to be like a contact sheet, so we took this from a photography page and used Photoshop to edit our photos onto it. This is it looked like:

Eloise and I sprinkling water on the artist to make her look more natural and as if she has just come out from the shower. 

We took a lot of photos to ensure we had variety during the digipak editing process. From this, it can be seen that we kept to a very similar theme to before, but just made her image slightly darker. This was successful for us as it furthered her star image.

Digipak - 1st Draft

Our initial ideas about the digipak was that we wanted to create was definitely to have it as minimalistic as possible. Therefore, we came up with an idea of having portraits of her in black and white. One of our friends had taken photos of our artist for his photography project and we managed to get a hold of these photos in order to compile a sample digipak. During our lesson we got feedback from the other group and our teacher. They said that we should add more elements to the digipak such as possibily changing the fonts or outlining the background. Below are a couple of the rough drafts that we made. 

Album Artwork Progress

Here are a couple of samples that we have come up with regarding the cover of the digipak. The inside idea is to have a contact sheet type of image. In order for this to happen we need to have a seperate photoshoot that will most likely happen the beginning of next week.

Album Name Research

In order to gain inspiration for our artists album name, each of the group memebers looked through their individual music playlists or albums that they own to get a sense of what an album title can be or is. I looked at my at my Itunes to check what albums I own:

When the album name 'Regression' came to me, I decided to look up the proper meaning of the word. 

This fit exactly with the theme that we were going for because it focuses on the relationships between variables.
